Really?

I am under the impression that parents really don’t have a say when it comes to their children these days. We’re told that we don’t decide what sex they are and they are free to choose to be a boy or a girl or whatever else from the age of 4. So much for parental guidance. We’re really not allowed to decide how we choose to raise them by discipline; I know that there are a number of violent episodes between parents and their kids, but how many well-meaning parents want to see their children degrade by the day and sit and do nothing?

It’s really tough being a parent nowadays. The world has become an open book with its pages flying all around, there’s no hiding nothing from no one, not in the era of smartphones and free wi-fi. I remember growing up in the days when local TV stations opened at 4pm with the colours of the rainbow followed by the National Anthem. Now Cartoon Network runs all day with all sorts of shows teaching demonic possession and witchcraft.

What does PG mean anyway other than becoming a warning sign for Pornographic Guidance? Yet the media refers to a certain group of people as Porn Stars. Since when did the word ‘porn’ and ‘star’ align to mean anything? Aren’t stars the bright sparkling heavenly bodies that man has done all to try to reach? When did pornography become bright and shiny and something to attain to? And there is no PG on the News?

Who’s to say what a 4-year-old can or cannot watch when they have been given the right to choose something as fundamental as their sexual identity?

Who’s to say what a 6-year-old can or cannot watch after I listened to the TEDtalk where some ‘scholars’ were rebranding paedophilia as a sexual orientation?

Who’s to say what a 13-year-old can or cannot watch when it has become increasingly difficult for me as an adult to sit through a PG13 movie?

What we need is GG – God’s Guidance.

The world is constantly trying to weave us into baskets that will never hold any water, but God’s plan for us is to be vessels that carry life in the inside and out, quenching the thirsts of the dying world. If we continue to give in to the pressures of conformity, we will lose our identity and in turn, fall for any belief system that has no solid foundation. God is calling us back to godly parenting where we trust Him for wisdom to raise children that will stand for truth and nothing less. We’re more focused on leaving behind a sustainable planet for generations to come, yet we degrade the very species that will inhabit the planet with our acceptance of immorality and godlessness. What is a habitat without inhabitants? A wasteland, that’s what it is, and that is what this world will be if we continue in our stride.

Arise, people of this world. Raise a generation after you that understand the importance of love, purity, truth and integrity. Teach your children to honour and respect and value life created by God. Show them that it’s better to stand alone if you stand for truth than to stand with the crowd standing for a lie; it is only the truth that brings true freedom. Let them know the values of hard work and an honest wage; to hold their relationships in high esteem and refrain from treating other humans like toilet paper. Open their eyes to the beauty in creation that points to the Creator, the One whom all life is accountable to. Sow seeds of humility, diligence, responsibility and true commitment in their hearts by living it out before their eyes.

The world is in need of those who will value God’s Guidance over any PG rating!

    2. Very sad that we the so called Christians are allowing the world to show”the way”, whereas Jesus is the way. Any other way lead to destruction. That is how we have allowed the world to take over fashion which has destroyed the church to a large extent. O Lord save us.

    We are raising babes that will question the evil of this world, unashamed of God standard and be the mouth piece for God in their generation.

  6. I cannot tell you how much this subject really hits home for me because I had 2 brothers who were continuously molested by a cousin. My older brother struggled for years, even trying to commit suicide (coming pretty close). His struggle is what someone else forced upon him ling enough to make him think it was the only way.
    As I was raising my son, I saw so many changes coming in “legal parenting.” I was blessed not to have suffered any consequences for parenting and disciplining as the Lord led me. I feel sorry for today’s parents AND those responsible for children in any way.
