The Intentional Series #6

Be intentional . . .

surround friends

Here are some verses about FRIENDSHIP that I took note of in the last week of 2018 as I read the book of Proverbs. I believe they fit quite well in this series of intentionality:

A troublemaker plants seeds of strife; gossip separates the best of friends.
Proverbs 16:28

Be intentional about what goes on in the gatherings of your relationships

Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends. Proverbs 17:9

Be intentional about forgiveness in your relationships

Rumors are dainty morsels that sink deep into one’s heart.
Proverbs 18:8

Be intentional about the stories you tell and listen to in your relationships

An offended friend is harder to win back than a fortified city. Arguments separate friends like a gate locked with bars.
Proverbs 18:19

Be intentional about peace and reconciliation in your relationships

There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.
Proverbs 18:24

Be intentional about love and devotion in your relationships

Do not be fooled: “Bad friends will ruin good habits.
1 Corinthians 15:33

I know this is not a verse from the book of Proverbs, but I have intentionally shared it to remind us to remain intentional with the company we keep.

Be intentional.

  1. Yup. Good fellowship: God desires that we stick close to one another like brothers; that we do not forsake assembling together; and that we carry one another’s burdens. When we spend this much time encouraging and edifying one another, we have no time to waste on bad company or to be unintentional.

  2. I try to treat my friends like family…….since I have no sisters, I love my Sisters in Christ and realize they are a true gift from GOD. I hold any offences lightly, but hold onto those Sisters tightly. I cherish them for who they are in CHRIST!
