Don’t Look Back

Eyes on the prize . . .

Please, don’t look back, no matter how loud the sound of the voices that call to you; please, don’t look back.

Please, don’t look back, no matter how precious you feel the things are that you left behind; please, don’t look back.

Please, don’t look back, no matter how rough and narrow the road ahead may seem; please, don’t look back.

Please, don’t look back, no matter how lonely the path you tread might seem; please, don’t look back.

You’ve left a world lined up for destruction, you’ve left a life signed up for death, you’ve left a people heading to perdition, you’ve left and there’s no need to look back, so please, don’t.

Don’t look back on the standard the Word of God has set; the standard of this world is ever changing, ever adjusting, so please, don’t look back.

Don’t look back on your convictions by the leading of the Holy Spirit; the world is always shifting the line and soon there’ll be none, so please, don’t look back.

Don’t look back in doubt, don’t look back in fear, don’t look back wondering if you’ll end up alone.

Don’t look back to sin, don’t look back to lust, don’t look back to the corpse of your rotting old self.

Please, don’t look back, I beg you, please don’t: only those who endure to the end will be saved: so please, don’t look back.

In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

1 Peter 1:6-9

(…the conclusion)
They want us to feel inferior because we trust in Jesus. They want us to feel ignorant because we believe in God. They want us to hide our faith because they think it’s offensive, but we won’t look back: there’s more to lose if we let go of the One who dearly holds us up!

Don’t look back. There’s nothing in this world for you.

  1. Very timely message from the Lord as I finished my morning meditation. This morning He was impressing upon my heart that the season of preparation is over and it’s time to go forward! This message solidifies His words to me! Blessings Sis!!

    1. The Lord our God is one! Thankful that in His mercy, He chooses to speak through us to one another. The same thing happened to me yesterday when I got a message from a friend and it was confirmation of what He was speaking to me at that time. God is amazing. 😍😍😍

  2. Alas, I have a friend who did look back, and she allowed herself to slip into a sinful lifestyle (and she knows it). 😥 Like Paul, I prefer to count all my earthly things as dung, and know that God has so much more for me in Our future.

    1. It’s really sad to watch loved ones wander back towards destruction, and it’s almost like there’s nothing you can tell them that they don’t already know. We pray that the Lord has mercy and draws their hearts back to Himself.

  4. Powerful admonition, Alethea, especially when you wrote: “You’ve left a world lined up for destruction, you’ve left a life signed up for death, you’ve left a people heading to perdition, you’ve left and there’s no need to look back, so please, don’t.” Amen and amen!

    1. People are being deceived to thinking we can do anything to preserve this world, they do not realise there’s nothing no amount of ‘global warming and climate change’ summits will do to save a world cursed from the beginning….

Thank you, David, for your consistent encouragement.

  5. This is timely!! Very timely I think of the rugby player.. Isreal… In Australia, he has had to stand for his faith, probably losing his career!
    No looking back!!
The line keeps shifting until there’s none. You are so right!

  6. Actually looking back can be dangerous because you may likely not see the glorious things ahead of you. So it is better to keep going and keep in with The Way Himself.
