They say experience is the best teacher, and that’s true, but wouldn’t you rather pass on the experience of pain and regret if you could? You just might have the opportunity, if you intentionally learn from the experiences of others and save yourself the trouble.
And that’s what the Bible is for . . . spend some time with it.
Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction, on whom the end of the ages has come.
1 Corinthians 10:11
Be intentional.
“For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.”
Romans 15:4 KJV

I think that’s the major reason I’ve never been drunk. In high school, so many classmates came to school Monday and talked about their partying, how they “got so blasted” they couldn’t remember anything from that night. Scared the snot out of me: I never wanted to lose that much control.

I was eminently socially inept. God was gracious in keeping me.

I often thank God for the things He has allowed me to witness through others, and pray for those who had to live it to allow me to learn through them.

I call it ‘scribble pad’. How God uses others to scribble experiences so we can look at take note. It’s amazing.
